The
Boise Weekly

About
the Boise Weekly: http://www.boiseweekly.com/
As Boise's locally owned and operated
alternative newspaper, Boise Weekly should always keep
in the mind that nothing contributes to the well being
of a community more than a good local newspaper. Boise
Weekly should be a spirited source of accurate, fair news
reporting, thoughtful insights and useful information
that every reader in the community will find valuable.
Its goal is to celebrate what's good about Boise and Idaho
- including the idiosyncrasies that make them uniquely
attractive - while calling attention, thoughtfully and
fearlessly, with humor and without pomposity, to what
can and should be improved. Boise Weekly should always
be open to voices from the community, foster high quality
writing, photography and design, and seek to provide a
big picture view of important issues. Most important,
it should never lose its dedication to making Boise Weekly
an enjoyable and profitable place to work.

Boise
Community Radio

http://www.radioboise.org/
Boise
Community Radio (BCR) is a grassroots, volunteer-based,
nonprofit organization established in 2002 to create southwest
Idaho's only locally programmed, non-commercial, community-based
radio station. BCR will have a daily impact within the
community by creating and encouraging opportunities for
residents of the area to access local media. BCR seeks
to cultivate a stronger sense of "Place" in
the Treasure Valley by upholding programming principles
designed to inspire thoughtful discussion and enhance
social, cultural and environmental awareness. Programming
will be based on public interest, community service and
musical diversity. The Treasure Valley is the largest
area in the nation that is not served by a community-based
radio station.
Boise Community Radio was recently issued a "construction
permit" from the FCC, authorizing us to broadcast
on 89.9 FM. The proposed coverage area of over 3,000 square
miles will stretch from Ontario, OR to the east side of
Boise. Our internet broadcast, RadioBoise, offers 24-hours
of cultural programming a day, including music, local
issues-based content and nationally distributed independent
news and public affairs programming. Over 25 different
issues-oriented programs are now available, including
daily editions of Democracy Now!, and Free Speech Radio
News.
Dozens of programmers and producers contribute to RadioBoise
and help prepare us for the eventual transition to conventional,
terrestrial radio.
Boise Community Radio will be on the air as soon as we
can raise adequate funding within the community. Our fundraising
campaign will raise $250,000 in local donations for equipment
purchases and operational expenses. Online donations and
volunteer forms can be submitted at our homepage.
